Our History
Founded in 2013 our vision was to blend the ‘best of both worlds’ – old fashioned financial values and beliefs with the use of modern technology and planning techniques. The name of our firm is based on our family values. Atherton was Neal's grandmother’s surname, a successful businesswomen in her own right. We chose this as the name of the business to honour her memory and we hope that she would be very proud. York comes from Yorkshire - where Neal grew up and a place close to his heart. The York in Islington also happens to be the pub where Neal and Maria first met!
Both Neal and Maria come from families of shop-keepers and we believe in the local high street. When the chance came around to acquire a high street location (that had been a bank since 1936), the opportunity was too good to resist. Not only did this enable us to build a great environment for our people, but an ideal meeting location for our clients too. Our location at Station Parade on Cockfosters high street is in the heart of the local community but also being an old bank it highly secure as we know that information and data security is critically important to our client's peace of mind.
